The first version

Five guided scenarios, sixty-six recordings and three display modes. Everything sits on the phone, nothing leaves it.

Five guided scenarios. Bring in a bull, call a cow, search the area, break a standoff with a bull that answers but will not come, and handle a moose that is already close. Each one plays a call, times the wait, and asks what happened — your answer decides what comes next. Some answers hand over to another scenario rather than dead-ending.

Sixty-six recordings across ten calls. A call is a kind of sound, not a single file. Most have several interchangeable recordings, and the player draws a different one each time — a real cow never makes the same sound twice.

Every recording levelled to the same loudness. Measured to broadcast standard, so no clip is suddenly twice as loud as the last one. The waveform on each recording is measured from the file itself, so you can tell two calls with a pause between them from four short grunts without listening first.

Three display modes. Forest for dawn and dusk. Daylight, black on white, for glare and sun. Night, red on black, which preserves your dark adaptation — white light costs you twenty to thirty minutes of it.

Favourites, on the call or on the single recording. One says this kind of call works here; the other says this particular recording does.

Entirely offline. Nothing is downloaded, nothing is sent anywhere, there is no account and no tracking. It works with no signal at all.
